What is typeface design?
Look in any direction and notice the different kinds of lettering on the signs of buildings and businesses. The weight, balance and spacing of letters and punctuation is typeface. Often confused with “font,” the typeface is the unique design of the letters while the font has to do with the variations within that design, such as bold, italic, or different sizes.
Just like an email written all in CAPS feels like yelling, typeface subtly can communicate mood, emotions and personality through its weight, curves, angles, etc.
